PeopleSoft Fluid UI Tips and Techniques: Getting to know the setups behind

As you start on your implementation path for fluid, you need to be aware of some fundamental setups that govern the behavior of your fluid front end.

The 2 primary characteristics associated with PeopleSoft Fluid UI:-

Adaptive:- System detects the device and generates the UI appropriate to that device

Responsive in that the CSS defined for the application responds to user actions on the client device, such as changing from portrait to landscape mode.

The PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface adaptive qualities require a server trip, while the responsive qualities do not.

  1. Web profile Configuration: General Page

While PeopleTools 8.54 allowed users to ‘Switch Off’ fluid at the web profile level, this option is no longer available with PeopleTools 8.55 making it the default behavior

  1. Overriding the fluid homepage default

By default all devices are set to display the fluid homepage after an end user signs on to the PeopleSoft system. Override the fluid homepage default using the Define Personalization page – and choosing the classic homepage



  1. Branding Options

DEFAULT_THEME_FLUID is the default branding theme in PT 8.55. This includes DEFAULT_THEME_FLUID style sheet and DEFAULT_HEADER_FLUID header definitions of classic homepages and classic pages to replicate the features of the fluid banner on fluid pages.

Drop down menu navigation is not available with the new theme for PS 9.2 applications. To enable drop-down menu navigation, use DEFAULT_THEME_TANGERINE, DEFAULT_THEME_TANGERINE_ALT


Macro repository gives users the ability to manage macros and macro sets. By changing macro values you can change colors, logos and other images used in the Fluid banner, headers and homepage attributes
